A Step-by-Step Guide from Puffin Sheds Swindon
At Puffin Sheds, our EPDM rubber roofs are supplied as a complete kit, including the correct adhesive and roller for easy installation. Must be purchased with a shed.
Brush the roof surface thoroughly to ensure it is clean, dry, and dust-free. Remove all dirt and debris so the adhesive bonds properly.
Lay the EPDM rubber loosely over the roof and allow it to settle naturally.
Ensure it overhangs evenly on all four sides.
Do not pull it tight — the rubber should lie flat on its own.
Weigh down one half of the rubber sheet.
Peel back the other half and apply adhesive evenly across the exposed wooden roof using the roller. Roll the EPDM back into place slowly and use a soft brush to remove any trapped air until the surface is completely flat.
Repeat the same process on the remaining half of the roof, ensuring full contact and a smooth finish.
Fold the rubber over the roof edges and secure it with clout nails beneath the trim line.
Refit the fascia boards or edge trims to complete the installation.
If your shed requires two EPDM sheets, join them using EPDM double-sided joining tape before bonding them to the roof.
Ensure the joint is fully sealed and smooth before continuing with the adhesive process.
